Design Stories: Introducing Our Exclusive Patchwork Prints

This season, we’re going behind the scenes in our London studios to give you an insight on SS19’s most coveted trends – and patchwork prints are first in line. From the catwalk to the drawing board, join us as we outline the evolution of our exclusively-designed prints, seen across some of our most key pieces…

On the Runway

Scarf prints stormed the runways at Chloé’s SS19 show, with mismatched motifs on long, fluid shapes evoking a sense of “hippie modernism” – a term coined by Natacha Ramsay-Levi, creative director at the fashion house. New Age bohemia showed its face through mini dresses, maxis and seventies-style jumpsuits, expressing itself through a montage of florals, geometrics and tile prints.

Designed in House

Inspired by the patchwork patterns and scarf-like styles on the runways, our in-house design team in London have created a series of bespoke prints exclusively for the new-season collection at Monsoon. Having curated a mood board of key catwalk pieces, original sketches and samples sourced from the extensive archives, our designers painted the new prints by hand, making them wholly unique to our brand.

The Peggy Print

Introducing Peggy, this season’s hero print. Exclusively designed in-house for Monsoon, this patchwork motif is spliced with stripes of mustard, muted blue and navy, and infused with free-spirited florals. Find it on flattering midi silhouettes with button-through designs, styling it for now and later with tan-hued leather accessories.

The Dakota Print

Dotwork florals, geometric motifs and abstract patterns come together on our Dakota print, imagined in complementing colours of blue and burnt orange. An in-house exclusive, this eclectic design instantly transforms this season’s boho blouse into a modern statement-maker – we’ll be wearing ours with classic blue denim.

The Poppy Print

Ready to go bold? Comprised with a concoction of florals and spots on a patchwork of red and cobalt blue, our exclusively-designed Poppy print is made for the brave. A sweeping midi dress maximises its standout effect, while clever details such as the v-shaped neckline and tie-up sash create a neater and more flattering silhouette.
