ARTISAN Collection: The Rosanna Dress

Here at Monsoon, working with artisans is a key part of who we are and what we do. To celebrate and show our appreciation for the people who make some of our most beautiful things, we’d like you to meet one of our talented craftspeople, Khwaja-ud-din, and introduce you to one of the beautiful pieces he’s hand-embellished for us.

Hand-embellished with beautifully ornate sequined decorations, our Rosanna midi dress is an eye-catching style for any event or special occasion. The wrap neckline and velour belt create a cinched-in waist for an extra flattering fit. Wear yours with a velvet sandal and a tonal clutch bag.

Meet the Artisan

Khwaja-ud-din, an embellishment artisan, has been working at one of our supplier units in Delhi for over a year. Originally from Bareilly he moved to Delhi with his cousin seeking better opportunities to sustain his family. Fascinated by the garment factories he looked for similar work but couldn’t find what he wanted. After many years working with small boutiques he found work at the unit. He says he is happy working at a place where he feels safe and is able to save for his family.

The ARTISAN Collection

Working with craftspeople in faraway places is a complex process with lots of challenges. But it’s always been an important part of who we are and what we do. Our continued commitment to using hand-craft helps sustain skills and livelihoods, as well as adding something special and unique to our collections.

A member of our Monsoon team personally visits our artisans, to watch our beautiful product come to life and get to know the people behind the intricate craftsmanship. We’ve worked closely with our ARTISAN suppliers to introduce worker handbooks where artisans can track the number of pieces they’ve worked on and, in turn, keep a record of their wages. This helps create transparency in the supply chain, letting us know who is making our clothes, and allowing us to make sure that the artisans have been fully paid for their beautiful work.
