Eid celebrations are just around the corner, and with things opening up more and more, we wanted to speak to Basma Kahie about what she will be doing to celebrate this year and what it means to her.

How are you celebrating Eid this year?

Eid-ul-Adha is a very important festival for Muslims across the world. So, there’s no doubt that I will be spending my time celebrating and enjoying delicious food with close family and friends at my mum’s garden party she hosts every year.

What occasion piece have you chosen to wear from the Monsoon collection and what do you love about it?

I will be wearing an Abaya which is a traditional Islamic dress for the morning prayer at the mosque.

I also love doing a bit of colour co-ordinating with my girls. So, I have decided that my second outfit will be the pink Cameia satin dress from Monsoon. My daughters will be wearing their matching Aztec frill dresses also from Monsoon which look perfect for the occasion.

How have you found the easing of restrictions, and the planning of celebrations in comparison to last year?

Last year’s Eid celebrations were muted due to lockdown restrictions so not much planning went into it which was very out of the ordinary.

Like many celebrations, Eid is a time that brings friends and family together so I’m very glad that we’re able to do that this year.

Staycation Inspiration: Elena Sandor

We’re planning sunny staycations this summer and with so many amazing places to choose from in the UK, we have asked Elena Sandor to give us some inspiration on where to go and for her top tips. Accompanied by, of course, what she’s packed in her suitcase.

This summer we are all about staycations, where is your favourite place to stay in the UK and what do you love about it?

I absolutely love England and I think it’s got so much to offer in terms of travelling treasures! Despite the weather, you can enjoy visiting so many beautiful places, such as the well-known Cotswold, Cornwall, Lake District, and so many other beautiful places.

One of my favourite places in the UK is definitely Cornwall. It does feel like a French coast, with clear azure water, sandy beaches, posh restaurants, gorgeous summer houses and so much entertainment on the way. We’re planning on visiting soon!

What are your top staycation packing tips?

I check the weather daily and come prepared for sunshine and rain, no matter what the prognosis is. Definitely pack a few comfy shorts, t-shirts, long-sleeved jackets, a raincoat, comfy trainers, and also a few going out dresses for dinner. Don’t overly pack but be prepared for each day of your trip with a couple of outfits. Pack your beauty essentials too.

What do you love about the Monsoon summer collection, and which is your favourite piece?

I believe this summer collection is so strong! I love the fluid fabrics, the summery patterns, the whites and blues, also the exotic prints! There are pieces for every taste, and I love them all! The new clothes are so functional as well as trendy and they are definitely classics, so you can wear them for years to come. My favourite piece is the navy polka dots jumpsuit. It fits like a glove, the fabric is so soft and breathable, it can be dressed up or down, so you can definitely take it from the beach to dinner!
